BLACKSBURG, Va. – Four members of the Virginia Tech men’s tennis team will see action in the Fab Four Invite hosted by Duke University this weekend at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. The event will include 11 schools being represented in the men draw.
Lucas Oliveira (So., Sao Paulo, Brazil) will play in Section A singles, Will Beck (Sr., Potomac, Md.) will participate in Section B and Corrado Degl’ Incerti Tocci (Jr., Reggio Emilia, Italy) is in Section C along with Pedro Graber (r-Sr., Santiago, Chile). Graber and Tocci will team up for the Section A doubles while Beck and Oliveria will play in Section B.
There will be three sections of singles with draws of 16 players in each section. Doubles will also consist of three sections with eight doubles teams placed in each one.
Duke will be joined by East Tennessee State, Indiana, Louisville, North Carolina, North Carolina Central, North Carolina State, Radford, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
The men’s draws are highlighted by 11 ranked singles players, including the No. 2 player in the nation, Duke’s Henrique Cunha. Also among the top 75 are No. 36 Tripper Carleton (Wake Forest), No. 45 Reid Carleton (Duke), No. 57 Ivan Salec (Radford), No. 63 Simon Childs (Louisville), No. 66 Brennan Boyajian (North Carolina) and No. 68 Iain Atkinson (Wake Forest). There are also two ranked doubles teams with the No. 1 team in the nation, Duke’s Carleton and Cunha, being joined by No. 14 Alejandro Calligari and Simon Childs of Louisville.
Play will start with the first two rounds of doubles beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday. The first round of singles will also take place on Friday at 2:30 p.m. Doubles will finish up with the finals at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Two rounds of singles will take place with matches set for 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The final round of singles will be played on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
