CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia Tech advanced two singles players and two doubles teams on the first day of the UVa Fall Invitational. The Snyder Tennis Center is the primary site of the Friday-Sunday competition, with additional matches being played at The Dell and the Boar’s Head Sports Club.

Joining the host Cavaliers in this year’s field are players from Binghamton, California, Cornell, Davidson, East Tennessee State, Eastern Kentucky, Elon, George Washington, James Madison, Longwood, Maryland, Nebraska, North Carolina State, Old Dominion, Richmond, VCU, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, William & Mary, and Winthrop.

After missing all of last season due to injury, Pedro Graber (r-Sr., Santiago, Chile) advanced in the Orange Flight with a tough, 7-6, 4-6, 7-5, win over S. Weber (NCSU) to advance to the quarterfinals. Trpimir Kujundzic (So., Zagreb, Croatia) defeated M. Ferrigno (Longwood), 7-6, 7-5, to move into Saturday’s Gold Flight quarterfinal. Jonathan Pine (Jr., Vienna, Va.) and Adam Lawton (Fr., Las Vegas, Nev.) received byes in the Green and Purple Flights respectively and will play quarterfinal matches on Saturday.

Lucas Oliveria (So., Sao Paulo, Brazil)/Kujundzic edged Gee/Schafer (Davidson), 9-8 (8), to advance to the White Flight doubles semifinals and Lawton/J.Pine moved into the Red Flight semis with a, 8-5, win over Piriz/Pons (EKU).
