BLACKSBURG, Va. – After acquiring a quick deficit in dropping two of three doubles’ matches, the No. 23 Virginia Tech men’s tennis team came back to earn four singles’ victories and take a 4-3 win over No. 47 NC State on Sunday afternoon at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.

The Hokies improve to 13-5, concluding the weekend’s sweep after Friday’s win over Wake Forest, while the NC State Wolfpack move to 12-11.

As the only senior on Senior Day, Yoanne Re (Verdun, Quebec, Canada) dropped the No. 1 match to Jaime Pulgar, 6-1, 6-4, while Luke Somen (Karlovac, Croatia) defeated Dominic Hodgson 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 2 match. Corrado Degl’ Incerti Tocci (Reggio Emilia, Italy) and Patrick Daciek won their respective No. 3 and No. 4 matches 6-4, 6-4 and 6-1, 7-5. Sebastien Jacques (Magog, Quebec, Canada) also earned a victory over David Chermak in the No. 6 slot, 6-2, 6-3. Rob Lowe defeated Will Beck (Potomac, Md.) in three sets in the No. 5 spot, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4..

Tech fell in two of the three doubles matches as NC State gained an early 1-0 lead. Re/Jacques fell, 8-5, to Prandecki/Hodgson in the No. 1 spot, while the Wolfpack’s Pulgar/Thomson defeated Tech’s Beck/Daciek, 8-4, in the No. 2 match. Tech’s Tocci/Somen took the final match in doubles play, 8-7, over Gukarati/Lowe.

The Hokies will close the season with two ACC matches on the road, traveling to Clemson on April 16 and Georgia Tech on April 18.
