BLACKSURG, Va. – The No. 23 Virginia Tech men’s tennis squad snapped a two-match ACC losing streak with a 5-2 victory over 18^th-ranked Wake Forest on Friday at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center. Tech improved to 12-5 overall and 5-3 in the ACC, while the Demon Deacons fell to 11-7 and 5-3 in league play.

After Tech lost the first singles match, as 38^th-ranked Yoann Re (Sr., Verdun, Quebec, Canada) fell to 56^th-ranked Steve Forman for Wake at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-4, the Hokies reeled off three victories in a row. Corrado Degl’ Incerti Tocci (So., Reggio Emilia, Italy) downed Wake’s 101^st-ranked Iain Atkinson 6-1, 6-4, at No. 3 singles, and Luka Somen (Karlovac, Croatia), ranked 61^st in the nation, upset the Demon Deacons’ Tripper Carleton, ranked 42^nd in the country, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 2 singles. Will Beck (Jr., Potomac, Md.) sealed the match for the Hokies with a 7-6, 6-4 victory over Wake’s Danny Kreyman, in the No. 5 singles match.

Sebastien Jacques (Magog, Quebec, Canada) defeated Zach Leslie, 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 6 singles match to record Tech's final point while Patrick Daciek (So., Severna Park, Md.) fell to Wake’s Jon Wolff in a super-breaker, 5-7, 7-6, 1-0 (10-6) at No. 4 singles.

The Hokies opened the match up with two straight victories in doubles competition to capture the doubles point. The Somen/Tocci and Daciek/Beck tandems both scored 8-3 victories at No. 3 and No. 2 doubles, respectively. The 74^th-ranked duo of Re/Jacques fell to 14^th-ranked Forman/Atkinson of Wake, but the Hokies already secured the team point.

Tech returns to Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on Sunday for a matchup with No. 47 NC State, where the Hokies will celebrate senior day. The match is scheduled for noon, and results will be available on hokiesports.com.
