VCU up next for Tech
Hokies look to get back on track against Rams

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team will attempt to snap a rare two-match losing streak Wednesday afternoon when the Hokies host Virginia Commonwealth. The 2 p.m. match will be played at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on the Virginia Tech campus and the first 50 fans to attend will receive a Virginia Tech hat!

Virginia Tech (10-5), ranked No. 23 in this week’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, dropped two matches over the weekend at No. 27 Duke (1-6) and at No. 20 North Carolina (3-4).

The Hokies will be led by No. 38 Yoann Re (Sr., Verdun, Quebec, Canada), No. 61 Luka Somen (So., Karlovac, Croatia) and No. 117 Sebastien Jacques (Jr., Magog, Quebec, Canada). Jacques/Re are ranked No. 74 nationally in doubles.

VCU (10-10) dropped a 5-1 decision on Sunday at No. 14 Louisville. Tech won the last meeting, 4-2, during the 2008 season.

Following Wednesday’s match, Tech will host No. 18 Wake Forest in a Friday, 3 p.m. match, and No. 47 NC State on Sunday at noon.
