BLACKSBURG, Va. – In singles action, No. 51 Yoann Re (Sr., Verdun, Quebec, Canada) defeated Jesse Kiuru in the top spot, 2-0 (6-4, 6-1). In the second spot, No. 67 Luka Somen (So., Karlovac, Croatia) earned the win over No. 124 Tommy Laine, 6-1, 7-6 (4), while Corrado Delg’Incerti Tocci (So., Reggio Emilia, Italy) dominated the third spot, topping John Collins, 7-6 (2), 6-2.
Rounding out the singles victories were Patrick Daciek’s (So., Severna Park, Md.) win over Sergio Wyss (6-2, 6-0) in the third spot, Will Beck’s (Jr., Potomac, Md.) defeat of Ryan Lissner (6-2, 7-6 (2)) and No. 107 Sebastien Jacques’ (Jr., Magog, Quebec, Canada) sixth-spot win over Mathais Sarrazin (7-5, 6-1).
In doubles play, the Hokies were able to sweep the Terrapins as Beck/ Daciek defeated Laine/ Kiuru, 8-2, at the No. 1 spot, Jacques/ Re claimed an 8-5, second-spot victory over Collins/ Lissner and Tocci/ Somen worked together in the third spot for the 8-3 defeat of Mansfield/ Sarrazin.
Tech will be back in action on Friday, March 26 as they will continue ACC action, hosting Florida State. The match will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
