GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech senior Yoann Re has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week after a convincing win at No. 1 singles that sparked the 19th-ranked Hokies 7-0 win over No. 23 Rice last Friday.
Re, ranked No. 47 nationally, routed 16th ranked Bruno Rosa, 6-0, 6-1, to set the tone early in the Virginia Tech victory. The win was Re’s second of the dual match season over a top 20 player. Re, a native of Verdun, Quebec, Canada, defeated No. 8 Eric Quigley, 5-7, 7-5, 6-2, in Tech’s dual match season-opening 5-2 win over No. 14 Kentucky
Virginia Tech (5-1, 1-0) plays host to top-ranked Virginia (10-1, 1-0) today at 5 p.m. in a marquee matchup of nationally-ranked ACC teams at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
