TULSA, Okla. -- The Virginia Tech doubles team of Patrick Daciek/Yoann Re was eliminated Thursday morning in the opening round of the main draw in the D’Novo All-American Men’s Tennis Championships. Tennis’ top collegiate players are participating in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) first national event of the 2009-10 tennis season which is being played at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Daciek (So., Severna Park, Md.)/Re (Sr., Verdun, Quebec, Canada) lost, 8-3, to the 20th-ranked team of Oleksandr Nedovyesov/Ilija Martinoski (Oklahoma State). Nedovyesov currently is the top-ranked singles player in the nation. The Tech duo had advanced through the qualifying tournament with two wins on Tuesday and a walkover on Wednesday to earn their way into the main draw.
Re, ranked 35th nationally, will see his first singles action in the main draw on Thursday night at 7 p.m. ET against qualifier Jeff Dadamo (Texas A&M). The match can be viewed live at http://www.itatennis.com/Events/ITANationalChampionships/MensAllAmerican.htm.
