Tech doubles team advances at D'Novo All-American
Daciek, Re roll to two victories

TULSA, Okla. -- One day after two Virginia Tech singles players failed to hold early leads and dropped their opening matches, the Hokies doubles combo of Patrick Daciek/Yoann Re cruised through both of their Tuesday qualifying doubles contests in the D’Novo All-American Men’s Tennis Championships. Tennis’ top collegiate players are participating in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) first national event of the 2009-10 tennis season and is being played at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Daciek (So., Severna Park, Md.)/Re (Sr., Verdun, Quebec, Canada) defeated Piotr Banas/Javier Pulgar (Louisiana-Lafayette), 8-3, in their afternoon match, then knocked off Louis Cant/Antonio Laste (Mississippi State), 8-2, in the evening contest. The Tech duo will face the No. 4 seeds and 35th-ranked team of Matt Kecki/Jaak Poldma (Southern California) Wednesday at 3:30 ET with a win sending them into Thursday’s main draw. Re, ranked 35th nationally, will see his first singles action in the main draw which will begin on Thursday.

The tournament includes six rounds of pre-qualifying and qualifying singles and doubles tournaments with the pre-qualifying rounds completed over the weekend.
