BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Four members of the Virginia Tech men’s tennis team will travel to Wilmington, N.C., this weekend to participate in the UNCW RBC Wealth Management Invitational. The flighted event includes players from Campbell, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Georgia State, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and UNC Wilmington. The event is being held at the Country Club of Landfall’s Drysdale Tennis Center.
Corrado Degli Incerti Tocci (So., Reggio Emilia, Italy), seeded third, will face Alex Wetherell (UNC Wilmington) in the Flight A singles at 2 p.m., while Trpimir Kujundzic (Fr., Zagreb, Croatia) will see his first collegiate action also at 2 p.m., against Conner Sherwood (Wake Forest). In Flight B singles, Jonathan Pine (So., Vienna, Va.) plays at 3:30 p.m. versus Alex Funkhouser (Campbell) and Zachary Pine (So., Vienna, Va.) battles Chris Cooprider (UNC Wilm,ington) in another 3:30 p.m., contest.
Kujundzic/Tocci will face Matt Gordon/Dmirty Vlaskin (Coastal Carolina) in their first A doubles match at 9:45 a.m., while the Pines will play Chad Brady/Amogh Prabhakar (Wake Forest) also at 9:45 a.m., in Flight B.
Play in the event continues on Saturday with one round of doubles at 9 a.m. followed by two rounds of singles action with finals scheduled for Sunday in all events.
