WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The #22 Virginia Tech men’s tennis squad dropped its final regular season ACC matchup to 25^th-ranked Wake Forest, 6-1, on Saturday at Leighton Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Brandon Corace (Sr., Naples, Fla.) got the Hokies off to a strong start in singles competition, with a straight-set victory over Iain Atkinson of Wake Forest at the No. 5 singles match, 6-2, 6-2. But that would be the Hokies lone point on the day, as Tech dropped its next four singles matches.

#56 Nicolas Delgado de Robles (Sr., Madrid, Spain) and Pedro Graber (Jr., Santiago, Chile) fell at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Delgado de Robles lost to 21^st-ranked Cory Parr, 6-1, 6-3, while Graber fell to Steve Forman, 6-4, 6-4.

Wake Forest sealed the contest as the Demon Deacons’ David Hopkins downed Sebastien Jacques (So., Magog, Quebec, Canada) in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 at the No. 4 singles match. Patrick Daciek (Fr., Severna Park, Md.) lost to Jason Morgenstern of Wake Forest at the No. 6 singles match, 7-5, 6-1, while the Demon Deacons’ Jonathan Wolff beat Luka Somen (Fr., Karlovac, Croatia), 6-4, 3-6, 6-5, in No. 3 singles play.

After Delgado de Robles/Daciek fell to the top-ranked doubles unit in the country, Foreman/Parr of Wake Forest, 8-3 to start out the match, Jacques and Somen rallied to capture the No. 3 doubles match 9-7 and even up the doubles competition. At the No. 2 doubles match Corace/Graber battled and took the lead late, but could not hold off the tandem of Salmon/Atkinson of Wake Forest, as the Demon Deacons’ pair won 8-7, clinching the doubles point.

Tech next travels to Cary, N.C., for the ACC Championships on April 16-19. Results will be available on hokiesports.com following each match.
