BLACKSBURG, Va. --- The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team concludes the 2008-09 regular season this weekend with matches at NC State and Wake Forest. The Hokies will play No. 51 North Carolina State on Friday at 2:30 p.m., then face 25th-ranked Wake Forest Saturday in a 3 p.m. contest.

Tech (12-5, 5-3), ranked No. 22 nationally, split two ACC home contests last week against No. 39 North Carolina (0-5) and No. 25 Duke (5-2). The Hokies are currently in fifth place in the ACC entering the final weekend of conference action.

NC State (9-12, 3-6) is currently in tenth place and has dropped its last four matches. Last week the Wolfpack dropped home contests against Miami (3-4) and Florida State (1-6). The Hokies edged NC State 4-3 last year in Blacksburg, Va.

Wake Forest (17-7, 7-2) split home matches last weekend against Florida State (4-2) and Miami (3-4) before knocking off 36th-ranked North Carolina, 4-2, on Wednesday. The Demon Deacons are currently second in the ACC and edged Tech, 4-3, last year on the road.

Following this weekend’s matches, the Hokies will head to Cary, N.C., Apr. 16-19, to participate in the ACC Championships.
