BLACKSBURG, Va. --- The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team is headed to the Lone Star state for two tough matches against nationally-ranked opposition. The Hokies will play at No. 38 TCU on Friday at 3 p.m. eastern time, then face 11th-ranked Baylor Sunday in a 7 p.m. contest.

Tech (8-2), ranked No. 25 nationally, is coming off its biggest win of year last week when the Hokies stunned then No. 16 Louisville, 5-2, at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center. Yoann Re (Jr., Verdun, Quebec, Canada), a two-time ACC Player of the Week this season and ranked No. 59 nationally, leads the Hokies with a perfect 10-0 dual match record. Re has two wins over top-10 players this season. Luke Somen (Fr., Karlovac, Croatia) has added depth to the lineup with his 8-2 singles record, and Sebastien Jacques (So., Magog, Quebec, Canada) has been solid posting a 6-1 dual match worksheet. Tech’s doubles duo of Nicolas Delgado de Robles (Sr., Madrid, Spain)/Somen are currently ranked No. 67 in the nation.

TCU (5-8), ranked No. 38, has faced stiff competition this season and will be led by Emanuel Brighiu and Kriegler Blink, ranked No. 79 and No. 80, respectively. The Horned Frogs also feature two nationally ranked doubles teams.

Baylor (10-4), ranked No. 11 in the nation, will host No. 1 Virginia on Friday prior to Sunday’s match with the Hokies. The Bears are led by eighth-ranked Denes Lukacs and No. 30 Jordan Rux.

Following this weekend’s contests, the Hokies return home for two key ACC contests against No. 57 Georgia Tech on Mar. 20 at 2 p.m., and Mar. 22 versus Clemson at noon. Both contests will be held at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on the Virginia Tech campus.
