Re named ACC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech’s Yoann Re has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week after posting a win over a top-10 ranked opponent for the second time this season.

Re, a junior from Quebec, Canada, won both of his singles matches en route to being selected for the Men’s Player of the Week honor. Re upset No. 6 Dominic Inglot of Virginia, 7-5, 6-1, in No. 1 singles on Friday and defeated Maryland’s Andrew Orban, 7-5, 6-3, on Sunday. Re improved his dual match record to 9-0 and is 6-0 at the No. 1 position.

Re previously won the Feb. 2 ACC Player of the Week award after upsetting then No. 6 Justin Kronauge of Ohio State 6-2, 6-4 in No. 2 singles in the second round of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships Kickoff Weekend. He also teamed with Patrick Daciek to upset the Buckeyes 41st-ranked doubles team.

Tech (7-2, 2-1) ranked No. 31 in last week’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, will host No. 33 Louisville, Fri., March 6, at 5 p.m., at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on the Virginia Tech campus.
