Thompson on Burgess: Akil has worked diligently on his game. He has improved some of the areas that were costing him in the past and I feel he has the potential to do more for us this year. His serve is still one of the most difficult to return and I feel he has improved his doubles skills. This could be a very good year for Akil.
Fall 2005: Posted a 3-5 singles record and 3-4 in doubles while participateing in the Rice Crown Plaza, the 37th Annual Farnsworth/Princeton and Liberty Alumni Invitationals.
2003-04: 2004 BIG EAST Academic All-Star ... Was 2-3 in singles competition ... Registered a 1-1 doubles mark.
High School/Junior Tennis: Made his Davis Cup debut for Barbados at age 16 in 2001 ... 2002 ITF junior world ranking of 270 in singles and 178 in doubles ... Ranked No. 14 in the 2002 Central America and Caribbean junior rankings.
