BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech men’s soccer team will travel to Columbia, South Carolina for a 7 p.m. kickoff against South Carolina Tuesday night.
The Hokies (6-4, 2-2) come into the game on a four-game winning streak, most recently defeating Boston College on Friday night. Kristo Strickler scored his second goal of the season with a 16-yard curling shot in the 46th minute which proved to be the game-winner.
Senior goalkeeper Ben Lundgaard kept two shutouts last week, bringing his season tally to three, second-best in the conference. Lundgaard leads the ACC in saves with 55.
South Carolina comes into the game (4-5-1, 0-2-1 Conference USA) after falling to Coastal Carolina at home Saturday night 2-0.
The Gamecocks are led in scoring by freshman Justin Sukow with four goals and two assists. Four other Gamecocks have also contributed with at least one goal.
In goal, senior William Pyle owns a 1.49 goals against average and .741 save percentage.
Notes
-The Hokies are in the midst of a four-game winning streak for the first time since the beginning of the 2016 Elite Eight season that began 4-0.
-Marcelo Acuna’s 15 points are T-3 most in the conference, and his three game-winners is tied at the top for most in the ACC.
