Hokies wrap up preseason, advanced to 2-0 in exhibition play
Tech wins over East Tennessee State and James Madison

BLACKSBURG- The Virginia Tech men’s soccer team wrapped up preseason exhibition play Saturday, finishing 2-0. The Hokies hosted East Tennessee State Aug. 16 and traveled to James Madison Aug. 20.

Five Hokies scored over the two games. Som Essome, Nico Quashie and Forrest White tallied points against the Buccaneers at Thompson Field. Marcelo Acuna and Ellias Tamburini got past the Dukes in Harrisonburg.

Goalkeepers Ben Lundgaard and Charles Filby saw time in both matches, holding the opponents to a goal a piece.

Tech will be back in action on Aug. 26, when they open the season against Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio.

NOTES

-Tech took a total of 31 shots over the two 90 minute games.

-Thompson Field saw 227 people for the match against ETSU.

-Hokies kicked 11 cornerkicks.

-The home opener will be on Sept. 2 against South Florida.

-Virginia Tech will play nine teams in the Preseason Top 25 this season.
