BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech men's soccer team will play their final regular-season home game of 2015 as they host the Belmont Bruins at Thompson Field on Tuesday night.
The Hokies are coming off a heartbreaking 1-0 loss at home to No. 21 Virginia, who they outshot 13-6 for the game.
It is the last nonconference game for Virginia Tech and overall the ACC has been dominant, holding the best nonconference record in the country as teams have combined to go 72-17-11. This includes a 11-3-2 mark against opponents ranked in the NSCAA Top 25 and an 19-6-5 record away from home. The ACC’s .775 winning percentage in nonconference play is the best of any league.
Desipite dealing with several key injuries during the season, the Hokies have been able to limit opponents offensively as only two teams have been able to score more than two goals and 10 opponents have scored one goal or less. Offensively, the Hokies are ranked T-62nd in the country in shots on goal per game at 5.80.
Merlin Baus is the one of the key offensive threats as he ranks T-86th in the country in points per contest (1.07) and T-64th in assists per game at 0.42, respectively. He has a team-high five goals and five assists. He also has a team-high total of 15 points in 14 games. Another weapon is Ricardo John who is T-31st in the country in shots on goal per game at 1.60 and T-56th in the nation in shots per game (3.00) as he leads the team with 45 shot attempts.
The Hokies currently are ranked 71st in the NCAA RPI Rankings. The ACC overall has 10 of its 12 teams in the top 30.

The Hokies and Bruins will be meeting for the first time on a soccer field on Tuesday night. Belmont is a member of the Horizon League for men’s soccer and is located in Nashville, Tenn. with an enrollment of 7,301.
About Blemont...
Belmont comes into the game having drawn at Valparaiso on Saturday, 1-1 in double-overtime. The Bruins are 0-2-1 in their last three contests as they lost to Wright State and Cleveland State prior to their draw with the Crusaders.
Rashad Hyacenth leads the team in goals and points. Hyacenth has scored 6 of the team’s 13 goals on the season for a total of 12 points. Other key offensive players for the Bruins including Raphael Colmanette who has a goal and three assists while A.J. Arnold has two goals and one assist on the season.
In goal, Grayson Rector has started and played 12 games while Clark Page has started and played in four games. Rector has a 1.29 goals against average and a .733 save percentage with 44 saves. Page has a 2.43 goals against average with a .565 save percentage with 13 saves.
The Bruins are only averaging 0.81 goals per game and just 4.28 shots per game while they are allowing 1.58 goals on average.
