Hokies host Duke to close out regular season
Match result will decide Hokies ACC Tournament fate

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech men’s soccer team will close out the regular season on Friday evening when it welcomes Duke to Thompson Field. With ACC tournament spots on the line, both squads will be looking to claim one of the 10 spots in the tournament this season.

As things stand, the Hokies are in ninth place in the ACC standings. If Tech can either win or tie, they are guaranteed a spot in the tournament. If Tech loses, then their fate lies in other ACC results.

Duke comes into the match with a 7-8-1 (3-4-0 ACC) record boasting a win over then-No. 1 North Carolina. Brody Huitema leads the Blue Devils in points with 12 on the strength of four goals and four assists, while teammates Cameron Moseley (five goals, one assist) and Sean Davis (one goal, eight assists) are right behind him with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Joe Ohaus has played 13 matches in goal for Duke posting a 2.00 goals against average, 45 saves and a .634 save percentage.

The Hokies come into the match with a 7-6-2 (2-4-1 ACC) record, most recently tying Davidson 0-0 at home on Tuesday night. Freshman Ricardo John leads the Hokies in both goals (5) and points (11).

Freshman Ben Lundgaard has started and played in 11 matches for the Hokies and has posted 53 saves, a 1.03 goals against average and a .815 save percentage.
