BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech men’s soccer team will look to get back to its winning ways on Tuesday evening when the Hokies play host to High Point.
The Panthers come into the match with a 5-4-1 record overall and a 3-3 mark in Big South play. Most recently, High Point defeated Longwood 3-2. Mamadee Nyepon leads the Panthers with 19 points on the strength of nine goals and one assist. Austin Yearwood is the next second-highest point earner for High Point with six on the strength of one goal and four assists.
Goalkeepers David Price and Kody Palmer have split time this season for the Panthers and combine for a 1.17 goals against average, 18 saves and a .600 save percentage.
The Hokies come into the match with a 7-5 record and a 2-3 mark in ACC play. Sophomore Som Essome leads Tech with 11 points (three goals, five assists) while freshman Ricardo John is right behind him with nine points (four goals, one assist). Freshman Merlin Baus has also contributed eight points (three goals, two assists).
Freshman goalkeeper Ben Lundgaard and senior goalkeeper Ben Lockler have split time for the Hokies this season, posting a combined 53 saves, a 1.31 goals against average and a .771 save percentage.
