Hokies travel to West Virginia
Tech looks to get non-conference win on the road

Morgantown, W. Va. - The Virgina Tech men's soccer team heads to the West Virginia University tomorrow for a crucial non-conference match that will be covered by NSCAA TV as the National Game of the Week.

The Hokies come into the match with a 1-1 record after defeating SIUE and falling to Saint Loius. Junior Brad Vorv scored the only goal in overtime against SIUE and freshman Dylan Huber scored the lone goal against Saint Louis. Vorv also has one assist to his name while sophomore Niels Kirch and junior Daniel Lauretano have one assist apiece as well.

Freshman goalkeeper Ben Lundgaard has played every minute in goal for the Hokies so far this season. He has made 10 saves in two matches and boasts a .769 save percentage.

West Virginia comes into the match against the Hokies with a 2-0 record boasting wins over St. John’s and Oakland. The Mountaineers have outscored opponents 5-1 thus far. Junior Jamie Merriam and freshman Jad Arslan lead the way for the Mountaineers with two goals a piece. Junior Andy Bevin has one goal and two assists on the season. Freshman Louis Thomas has four assists this season while freshman Joey Piatczyc has two assists.

Sophomore goalkeeper Brent Arnold has played every minute in goal for West Virginia. He has made five saves this season with a save percantage of .833 and a goals against average of .50 goals per game.

The Hokies have faced West Virginia nine times and the Hokies hold a 7-2 overall record against the Mountaineers. The last time the two teams met was in 2004 when the Hokies took away a 1-0 victory. Since their first meeting in 1987, the Hokies have outscored the Mountaineers 14-11.
