WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Virginia Tech men’s soccer team looks to stay unbeaten in ACC play when the Hokies travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Friday night.
The Hokies currently occupy sixth place in the ACC standings with a 1-0-3 record in conference play. Tech is coming into the match against Wake Forest on the heels of a 0-0 tie against then-No. 16 Clemson. Senior goalkeeper Kyle Renfro led the way for the Hokies making 10 saves in the match to preserve the shutout, while freshman teammate Alessandro Mion recorded four shots in the match.
Wake Forest currently sits atop the ACC standings with a 3-0-1 record in conference play. The Demon Deacons are coming off of a 1-1 tie against the UNC Charlotte 49ers.
Senior Andy Lubahn and sophomore Michael Gamble lead Wake Forest with three goals apiece. Lubahn also leads the team in assists with four.
Goalkeeper Alec Ferrel has started seven games this season while his counterpart Andrew Harris has started two. The two keepers combine for a 0.74 goals against average and a .829 save percentage. Ferrel has made 28 saves this season. And has earned two shutouts.
The Demon Deacons lead the series against the Hokies with a 15-2-2 record.
