Hokies set to take on No. 1 North Carolina in ACC clash
Game will be available on ESPN3

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech men’s soccer team takes on No. 1 North Carolina at Thompson Field on Friday night in an important ACC clash.

Tech is coming off of a 5-2 victory over High Point. Senior forward Robert Alberti scored two goals and registered one assist in the match while senior David Clemens, junior André Thomas and sophomore Daniel Lauretano also scored for the Hokies.

In just five games, Alberti has already passed his season-high points mark set in 2010. On the strength of four goals and two assists, Alberti has registered 10 points this season and is currently first in the ACC in shots per game with 4.40 and second in the ACC in total shots (22), points (10), points per game (2.00), goals (4) and goals per game (0.80).

UNC comes to Thompson Field boasting wins over Monmouth, Campbell and then-No. 13 Coastal Carolina. UNC has also tied then-No. 4 Notre Dame and then-No.18 Maryland.

Junior Tyler Engel leads the way for the Tar Heels with three goals and one assist, while sophomore Raby George has scored three goals as well. Junior goalkeeper Brendan Moore boasts a .053 goals against average and a .850 save percentage.

The last time UNC came to Thompson Field, the Hokies walked away with a 1-0 overtime victory. Goalkeeper Kyle Renfro made nine saves in that match.
