BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech Athletics Department announced Thursday the beginning of the first HokieSports Social Summer. Each weekday from Monday, July 15 through Friday, Aug. 2, the athletics department will be curating unique content on all of its official social media platforms. As detailed below, each day of the week will follow a different theme.

Be sure to follow and interact on Virginia Tech athletics social media channels, while making use of the appropriate hashtags for each day. The action will begin Monday on the official Facebook page of Virginia Tech Athletics, facebook.com/hokiesports. Fans can also track and contribute each day by following the @vtpromos Twitter account.

The themes for each day of the week will be as follows:

#MascotMonVT: Mascot Monday
Look for a photo to be posted of the HokieBird somewhere on-campus. If a fan can correctly guess where the HokieBird is, that fan will have a chance to win a HokieBird Snow Globe

#TunesTuesVT: Tunes Tuesday
Have a song you’ve always wanted to hear at any of fall sports venues? Each Tuesday, the athletics department is going to take suggestions. Submit the song you want to hear by commenting on #TunesTuesVT Facebook post or tweeting @vtpromos. If the song has already been suggested, like or retweet the post to vote. The top five songs on each Tuesday will be added to Tech’s pre-game playlists for all fall sports.

#VineWedVT: Vine Video Wednesday
Look for a special Vine on the @vtpromos Twitter account each week. The athletics department will be looking for responses, and in some cases, for fans to send a Vine back.

#ThrowbackThurVT: Throwback Thursday
Each Thursday will be devoted to looking at the great moments in the history of Virginia Tech athletics. We want to know where fans were when touchdowns were scored, big baskets were made, championships were claimed and when history unfolded.

#FanFriVT: Fan Photo Friday
Submit fan photos all week long by e-mailing vtmarketingpromotions@gmail.com or by tweeting them to @vtpromos with the appropriate hashtag. Each Friday, the favorites will be posted into a gallery on the official Facebook page. Photos could be from a recent vacation, a tailgate, a game or of any time fans chose to put on some maroon and orange!
