Clarke Bentley named Second Team All-ACC

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech senior midfielder Clarke Bentley was named to the All-ACC Second Team, as announced by the ACC on November 9. Bentley is one of five seniors on the second team and one of five midfielders.

The Marietta, Ga., native started in all 19 games for the Hokies this season, serving as a team captain. He led the team in goals (6), points (15) and shots (32) while tying for the lead in shots on goal (15). He finished the year a perfect 3-3 in penalty kicks, including a game-tying goal in an eventual victory over NC State. He helped secure a win over Radford late in the season, scoring two goals in a 4-1 victory.

Eight of the nine men’s soccer programs in the ACC were represented on either the first, second or All-Freshmen teams. North Carolina led all schools with six on the first and second teams.
