BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech’s men’s soccer team was one of 194 men’s teams nationwide to earn the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2009-10 academic year. In total, 630 teams earned the honor (194 men, 436 women), posting a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
The Hokies made the cut with a 3.16 team GPA. This is the second time in school history the men’s team has earned the honor, first winning it in 2003. Tech is one of only three men’s ACC teams to earn the honor, including Duke (3.31) and NC State (3.09). Five ACC women’s programs were honored as well, including Clemson (3.29), Duke (3.40), Florida State (3.39), Miami (3.15) and Virginia (3.16).
