VT Tournament Notes
The Virginia Tech men’s golf team will compete in the 2018 ACC Men’s Golf Championship this weekend. The three-day event will be played at the par 72, 7,102-yard Old North State Club at Uwharrie Point in New London, North Carolina, beginning on Friday.
The Hokies are the 11th seed in the tournament and will begin play on Friday morning, starting at 10 a.m. from the 10th tee. Tech will be grouped with Notre Dame and Boston College in the first round.
Tech will start the same five golfers as in the past two events. Mark Lawrence Jr., a junior from Richmond, Virginia will play in the first position, Connor Burgess, a freshman from Lynchburg, Virginia is second, Ian Hildebrand, a senior from Purcellville, Virginia is third, Slade Pickering, a freshman from North West, South Africa, is fourth and Joey Jordan, a junior from Richmond, Virginia, will be in the fifth position.
Tech finished ninth in last year’s tournament, which was played a Musgrove Mill Golf Club in Clinton, South Carolina. This is the 21st time that the Championship has been played at Old North State Club.
Duke is the defending champion of the tournament. Georgia Tech, ranked fifth in the current Golfstat.com, is the top seed in this year’s event.
