Men's golf named All-Academic team by GCAA

Fifth consecutive year on the list for the Hokies

NORMAN, Okla. – The Virginia Tech men’s golf team was named a 2017 All-Academic team, as selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Wednesday. Tech is one of 187 teams to be so honored this season.

To be honored, a team must achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher. To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the GPA for each player on its official squad list for the academic year. This is the fifth year in a row the program has been awarded the honor.

Tech joins fellow ACC teams Duke, Louisville, Notre Dame, Virginia and Wake Forest on the list. Georgia State was named the Academic National Champions this season with a total GPA of 3.85 and won the Division I title. Thirty-nine teams, including 19 from Division I, received President’s Special Recognition status for having team GPAs of 3.5 or better, setting a new all-time high for the awards.
