Virginia Tech golfer Mark Lawrence Jr., has been named to the Division I PING All-East Region team, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. A total of 154 players across six regions - Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West - earned all-region honors for 2017.

Lawrence, a sophomore from Richmond, Virginia, makes the team for the first time. He led the Hokies in stroke average for the season at 71.53 and in “Crunch Time” scoring average at 71.64. He recorded a team-best 21 rounds of par-or-better and had three top 5 finishes plus one more top 10 finish and two more top 20 finishes.

Lawrence was one of two Hokies selected to compete in the 2017 NCAA Regional, tying for 12th at the NCAA West Lafayette Regional earlier this month. His best finish of the season was a fourth-place at the General Hackler Championship in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Lawrence is one of 23 ACC players named to one of the six teams.
