Joey Lane finishes 55th at NCAA Franklin Regional

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Virginia Tech golfer Joey Lane shot a three-round total of 3-over 219 and finished in 55th place at the NCAA Franklin Regional. The three-day event was played at the par 72, 7190-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tennessee.

Lane, a junior from Great Falls, Virginia, carded a 2-over 74 in Wednesday’s third round. He shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday, following 1-over 73 in Monday’s first round. In Wednesday’s final round, Lane had a birdie and three bogeys to go along with 15 pars.

Lane finished sixth among 10 individuals competing in the event. He finished 19 strokes behind medalist Michael Perras of Houston. This was Lane’s third trip to the NCAAs in as many seasons at Tech.

Texas claimed team honors with a 45-under total of 819, 11 strokes better than runner-up and host, Vanderbilt. Houston, LSU and Virginia join the Longhorns and Commodores in advancing to the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship in Eugene, Oregon, which begins later this month. Ryan Cole, playing as an individual from James Madison, will also advance to Eugene as the top individual not on an advancing team. He finished tied for second place individually.
