FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Virginia Tech golfer Joey Lane shot even-par 72 on Tuesday and is tied for 40th place at the NCAA Franklin Regional with a two-day total of 1-over 145. The three-day event is being played at the par 72, 7190-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville.
In Tuesday’s second round, Lane, a junior from Great Falls, Virginia, posted three birdies and three bogeys. Teeing-off on the 10th hole, Lane fell to 3-over after five holes, but fought back to even-par. Lane shot a 1-over 73 in Monday’s first round.
Lane is once against sixth among 10 individuals competing in the event. He trails individual leaders Doug Ghim of Texas and Ryan Cole of James Madison by 12 strokes. This is Lane’s third trip to the NCAAs in as many seasons at Tech.
Texas continues to lead the team portion of the event. The Longhorns have a two-round total of 37-under 539, 17 strokes ahead of Virginia. The top five teams, plus the top individual not on an advancing team, will move on to the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship in Eugene, Oregon at the end of the month.
