NEW LONDON, N.C. – Virginia Tech has a two-round total of 28-over 604 and is in 12th place at the 63rd ACC Men’s Golf Championship on Saturday. The three-day event is being played at the 7,102-yard, par 72 Old North State Club at Uwharrie Point in New London, North Carolina. The Hokies shot a 304 on Friday and posted a 300 on Saturday.
Joey Lane, a junior from Great Falls, Virginia, is tied for 25th place with a 3-over 145. He shot a 1-under 71 in the second round on Saturday.
Drew Johnson, a junior from Oak Ridge, North Carolina, is tied for 45th place at 152. Maclain Huge, a senior from Lovettesville, Virginia is tied for 50th at 154 and Blake Fiest, a freshman from Huntersville, North Carolina, is tied for 52nd at 155. Ryan Mondy, a junior from Blacksburg, Virginia is in 54th place at 156.
Clemson continues to lead the event, with a two-round total of 19-under 557, eight strokes ahead of Wake Forest and 14 strokes ahead of Florida State. Georgia Tech and Virginia are tied for fourth at 575, Duke is sixth at 576 and NC State is seventh at 577. Louisville is eighth at 580, North Carolina is ninth at 588, Notre Dame is 10th at 591 and Boston College is 11th at 603, one stroke ahead of the Hokies.
Wake Forest’s Davis Womble takes the individual lead into Sunday’s final round. He has a 7-under 137, one stroke ahead of Clemson’s Austin Langdale and Bryson Nimmer.
The final round of the 2016 ACC Men’s Golf Championship begins on Sunday morning with the Hokies joining Boston College and Notre Dame in the first group off, teeing off at 9:30 a.m. from the 10th tee. A link for live scoring will be available on Hokiesports.com.
