Hokies ninth at Penn State
Huge and Lane tied for 24th

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Virginia Tech men’s golf team has a two-round total of 29-over 597 and is in ninth place at the Rutherford Intercollegiate. The two-day event is being played at the 7,202-yard, par 71 Blue Course at the Penn State Golf Courses in University Park, Pennsylvania.

The Hokies shot 298 in Saturday’s morning round and 299 in the afternoon round. The first round was delayed one hour due to frost conditions.

Maclain Huge, a senior from Lovettesville, Virginia and Joey Lane, a junior from Great Falls, Virginia are tied for 24th at 4-over 146. Ryan Mondy, a junior from Blacksburg and Drew Johnson, a junior from Oak Ridge, North Carolina are tied for 51st at 153 and Ian Hildebrand, a sophomore from Purcellville, Virginia is tied for 59th at 157.

Host Penn State leads entering the final round at 6-under 562, six strokes ahead of West Virginia and 10 strokes ahead of Xavier. UConn is fourth at 575, Rutgers is fifth at 576 and Seton Hall is sixth at 578. Eastern Michigan is seventh at 585 and Georgetown is eighth at 593, four strokes ahead of the Hokies. Youngstown State and Binghamton are tied for 10th at 607.

The final round will be played Sunday morning. There is no live scoring available.
