GREENVILLE, S.C. – Virginia Tech posted a three-round total of 4-over 868 and finished in ninth place at the Furman Intercollegiate on Sunday afternoon. The three-day event was played at the 6,994-yard, par 72 Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Hokies shot a 4-over 292 on Friday and improved to a 1-over 289 on Saturday. Tech carded its best round of the weekend on Sunday, with a 1-under 287, ties for the third-best round of the day.

Joey Lane, a junior from Great Falls, Virginia shot a final round 4-under 68 and tied for eighth place overall at 6-under 210. He finished seven strokes behind medalist Ryan Cornfield of USC Upstate.

Drew Johnson, a junior from Oak Ridge, North Carolina, tied for 43rd place at 219 and junior Ryan Mondy of Blacksburg tied for 58^th place at 222. Maclain Huge, a senior from Lovettesville, Virginia tied for 64^th place at 223 and Blake Fiest, a freshman from Huntersville, North Carolina, tied for 79^th at 225.

Three Hokies competed as individuals in the tournament. Ian Hildebrand, a sophomore from Purcellville, Virginia, tied for 91^st at 228, Will Duma, a freshman from Atlanta, Georgia, finished 102^nd at 233 and Dan Woodbury, a sophomore from Upton, Massachusetts, tied for 107^th place at 237.

Georgia State won the team title at 23-under 841, 15 strokes better than runner-up Harvard and 16 strokes ahead of USC Upstate. Akron was fourth at 859, host Furman was fifth at 860 and Temple was sixth at 865. Wofford was seventh at 866 and Francis Marion was eighth at 867, one stroke ahead of the Hokies. Chattanooga was 10^th at 870, two strokes behind Tech.

The Hokies have a short turn-around, as they return to the course this weekend. They will compete in the 3M Augusta Invitational, to be played Saturday and Sunday at the Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
