GREENVILLE, S.C. – Virginia Tech has a two-round total of 5-over 581 and is tied with Chattanooga for 10th place at the Furman Intercollegiate. The three-day event is being played at the 6,994-yard, par 72 Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, South Carolina.
The Hokies shot a 4-over 292 on Friday and improved to a 1-over 289 on Saturday.
Joey Lane, a junior from Great Falls, Virginia and Drew Johnson, a junior from Oak Ridge, North Carolina are tied for 19th place overall at 2-under 142. They trail leader Ryan Cornfield of USC Upstate by eight strokes.
Junior Ryan Mondy of Blacksburg is tied for 35th place at 145. Maclain Huge, a senior from Lovettesville, Virginia and Blake Fiest, a freshman from Huntersville, North Carolina, are tied for 92nd at 153.
Three Hokies are competing as individuals in the tournament. Ian Hildebrand, a sophomore from Purcellville, Virginia, is tied for 57th at 148, Will Duma, a freshman from Atlanta, Georgia, is tied for 79th at 151 and Dan Woodbury, a sophomore from Upton, Massachusetts, is in 104th place at 156.
Georgia State moved into the lead with a 560, four strokes ahead of round-one leader Harvard and six strokes ahead of Akron and host Furman. USC Upstate is fifth at 570, Dartmouth is sixth at 572, Francis Marion is seventh at 575 and Gardner-Webb is eighth at 576. Ninth place Temple is at 577, four strokes ahead of the Hokies and Mocs.
The 19-team event will conclude on Sunday, with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. The Hokies will be grouped with Temple, Chattanooga and USC Aiken. Live scoring is available on Golfstat.com and a link from Hokiesports.com
