Hokies return to action at General Hackler
Tech travels to Myrtle Beach

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech men’s golf team returns to the course this weekend, competing in the General Hackler Championship. The 54-hole, two-day event will be played at the par-72, 7,233 yard Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The 15-teams event will boast a field seven top 50 squads. The Hokies are one of four ACC teams competing this weekend at the Hackler, hosted by Coastal Carolina.

Joey Lane will play in the top spot for the Hokies. The junior from Great Falls, Virginia is in the midst of his best year as a Hokie. Lane has four top 20 finishes this season, including two top 5 finishes.

Drew Johnson is playing second for Tech. The junior from Oak Ridge, North Carolina is currently third on the team in scoring. Reigning VSGA Amateur champion Maclain Huge is in the third spot for Tech. He has one top 10 finish this season.

Ryan Mondy, a junior from Blacksburg, is in the fourth position for the Hokies. Mondy has established himself in the everyday line-up for Tech. Mondy is joined by Blake Fiest, who is playing fifth for the Hokies at the Hackler. Fiest, a freshman from Huntersville, North Carolina, will be competing in his fifth event for Tech.

Ian Hildebrand will be competing at the Hackler was an individual. The sophomore from Purcellville, Virginia, is making his first appearance of the spring and third appearance of the season for Tech.

The event will begin Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. in the first of two rounds that day. The final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. Live stats will be available on golfstat.com, from a link on Hokiesports.com.
