GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Virginia Tech shot two-round total of 6-over-par 582 and finished in fourth place at the UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate on Sunday afternoon. The event was played at the par-72, 7,245-yard Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C.

Due to heavy frost on Saturday morning, the event was shortened from 54 to 36 holes. Eighteen holes were played on Saturday and the final 18 holes were played on Sunday. Tech shot identical 3-over-par 291 in each of the two rounds.

Senior Bryce Chalkley (Richmond, Va.) shot a 2-under-par 70 on Sunday and finished in a tie for third place overall, at 2-under-par 142. He finished three strokes behind co-medalist Henry Do of North Carolina and Lars van Meijel of Memphis. Chalkley’s 70 on Sunday was the Hokies’ low round of the weekend. He finished 13^th-or-better in all five events this fall, including three top 5 finishes.

Junior Trevor Cone (Concord, N.C.) tied for ninth at even-par 144 and junior Scott Vincent (Harare, Zimbabwe) tied for 36^th at 149. Sophomore Maclain Huge (Lovettesville, Va.) tied for 52^nd at 151 and freshman Joey Lane (Great Falls, Va.) tied for 68^th place at 155. Freshman Ryan Mondy (Blacksburg, Va.) played the event as an individual and also tied for 68^th 155.

North Carolina won the event with a 5-under-par 571, six strokes better than runner-up Chattanooga. Memphis was third at 580, two strokes ahead of the Hokies. Purdue and Georgia State tied for fifth at 584, host UNCG was eighth at 585 and VCU and Mississippi State tied for ninth at 588. NC State was 11^th at 592, William & Mary and Iowa State tied for 12^th at 593 and High Point was 14^th at 612.

This was the Hokies’ final event of the fall. The spring portion of the schedule begins on Feb. 23-25, as Tech will compete in the Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan, P.R.
