Hokies named All-Academic team
Golfers one of five ACC teams to earn honor from the GCAA

NORMAN, Okla. – The Virginia Tech men’s golf team has been named an All-Academic team presented by Farmers Insurance, as selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Tech is one of 79 Division I teams to be so honored this season and one of five Atlantic Coast Conference teams on the list.

To be honored, a team must achieve at cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher. A total of 143 teams in all divisions, including junior colleges, submitted GPAs of 3.00 or higher to earn All-Academic team recognition, a new high in the five years of the award. To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic team honors a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.

The Hokies have had multiple individual golfers earn academic awards this season. This is the program’s first team academic award of the season.

Tech joins Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech and Wake Forest as ACC teams on the list. Brown University was named the Academic National Champions this season with a total GPA of 3.74. DePaul, Harvard, Kennesaw State, Richmond, Stanford, Sterling, Utah Valley State, Valparaiso, William & Mary and Yale also received President’s Special Recognition status for having team GPAs of 3.5 or better.
