NORMAN, Okla. – Virginia Tech golfer Bryce Chalkley has been named to the 2013 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars team, as awarded by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Chalkley is one of nine Atlantic Coast Conference student-athletes named to the team.

Chalkey, a rising senior from Richmond, Va., played in every match for the Hokies this season and had his score count in every round during the fall season. He was third on the team in scoring average this season at 73.00 and was third on the team in “Crunch Time” scoring average at 74.00. He had his best finish of the season by placing fourth at the Furman Intercollegiate and led the Hokies with an 11th place finish at the NCAA Pullman Regional in May.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team’s competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

Off the course, Chalkley was named to the 2013 All-ACC Academic Team. It marked the third consecutive year that Chalkley had earned that honor. He joins Jake Allison (1985), Mark Teachey (1986), Carl Wakely (2007), Jurrian van der Vaart (2008) and two-time honoree Drew Weaver (2008 and 2009) as the only Hokies to earn this prestigious award.
