LYNCHBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech sophomore Scott Vincent was named the Virginia Player of the Year Virginia Sports Information Directors’ (VaSID) on Friday afternoon. He and teammate Mikey Moyers were named to the organization’s first team.

In just his second season with the Hokies, Vincent led Virginia Tech with a 71.66 stroke average and finished the year ranked No. 107 in the country by Golfstat.com. Vincent, from Harare, Zimbabwe, posted nine top 20 finishes during the 2012-13 season, including five top five showings. He played 22 of his 32 season rounds at or below par, helping him earn PING All-East Region and All-ACC honors.

Moyers, a senior from Stanardsville, Va., completed his senior season with the Hokies by being second on the team in stroke average and crunch time scoring. He tied for second in the 60^th Annual Men’s Golf Championship and earned All-ACC and PING All-East Region honors.

Liberty’s Jeff Thomas was named Virginia Coach of the Year and Richmond’s David Germann was named Virginia Rookie of the Year. Weston Eklund of Radford, Chase Marinell of Liberty and Denny McCarthy of Virginia joined Moyers and Vincent on the first team.
