Moyers, Vincent named All-East Region
Duo among 25 golfers honored on East team

Alpharetta, Ga. – Virginia Tech golfers Mikey Moyers and Scott Vincent have been named to the Division I PING All-East Region team, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. A total of 155 players across six regions - Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West - earned all-region honors for 2013.

Moyers, a senior from Stanardsville, Va., was second on the team in scoring average and in crunch time average this season. He was 11th in the ACC in scoring average this season. Moyers’ top finish of the season was at the 60th Annual ACC Men’s Golf Championship, where he finished tied for second, while leading the Hokies to a tie for second place overall. Moyers is a four-year starter for the Hokies and competed in four consecutive NCAA Championships.

Vincent, a sophomore from Harare, Zimbabwe, led the Hokies in scoring average and crunch time scoring this past season. He played 11 of the team’s 12 events this season, missing on the Brickyard Collegiate Golf Championship in the fall, when he represented his native Zimbabwe in the World Team Amateur Championship in Turkey. Vincent was seventh in the ACC in scoring average and finished sixth at the ACC Championship. His best finishes of the season were third place at both the Marshall Invitational and the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular.

Both Moyers and Vincent were named to the 2013 All-ACC team last week. The duo are two of 18 ACC players named to one of the six teams. This is the first time since 2002, with Johnson Wagner and Brendon de Jonge, that two Hokies have made All-Region in the same season.
