
NEW LONDON, N.C. – The Virginia Tech golf team has a two-round total of 18-under-par 558 and is in fourth place entering the final round of the 60th Annual ACC Men’s Golf Championship. The event is being played at the par-72, 7,102-yard Old North State Club in New London, N.C.
The Hokies shot a 12-under-par 276 on Saturday afternoon, after opening the event on Friday with a six-under-par 282. The Hokies’ round of 276 was the third-best round of the day. Tech played the 18th hole at four-under-par on Saturday.
Senior Mikey Moyers (Stanardsville, Va.) is tied for third place individually with a two-day total of eight-under-par 136. Moyers has posted identical rounds of four-under-par 68 to open the tournament. He trails Anders Albertson of Georgia Tech by three strokes.
Sophomore Scott Vincent (Harare, Zimbabwe) is tied for seventh with a two-round total of 138. Vincent shot a team-best five-under-par 67 on Saturday. Freshman Maclain Huge (Lovettesville, Va.) is tied for 13th place at 141 and sophomore Trevor Cone (Concord, N.C.) is tied for 19th at 143. Junior Bryce Chalkley (Richmond, Va.) is tied for 34th place at 146. The Hokies posted all five individual rounds on Saturday at par-or-better.
First-round leader Florida State retains the lead with a two-round total of 25-under-par 551, four strokes ahead of Georgia Tech. Duke is third at 556, two strokes ahead of the Hokies. Virginia is fifth at 566, Wake Forest is sixth at 572, Clemson is seventh at 573 and North Carolina and NC State are tied for eighth at 580. Maryland is 10th at 592 and Boston College is 11th at 597.
The final round will be played on Sunday. The Hokies will be grouped with Virginia and Wake Forest and will begin play at 10:10 a.m. from the first tee.
