LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The Golf Coaches Association of America recently recognized Virginia Tech head coach Jay Hardwick for his 30 years as a member coach. GCAA President Todd Satterfield, the head coach at Furman University, presented the 30-year Service Award to Hardwick at the GCAA National Convention at the Tropicana Las Vegas on Monday, Dec. 10.
Hardwick has led the Hokies to six consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament, and in 2012, led Tech to a 24th place finish at the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship, held at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Hardwick, the 2005 recipient of the Labron Harris Sr. Award, the highest honor given by the GCAA, has produced four players that have won five All-America honors and five players that have earned six GCAA All-America Scholar awards. Hardwick is also the only coach to win conference championships in four separate conferences.
