
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech has a two-round total of 10-over-par 586 and are tied with NC State for fifth place at the UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate at the par 72, 7,245-yard Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C. on Saturday. Tech shot even-par 288 in the morning round and followed that with a 298 in the afternoon round.
Sophomore Scott Vincent (Harare, Zimbabwe) is tied for fourth place individually after posting rounds of one-under-par 71 and two-under-par 70. His total of three-under-par 141 is five strokes behind leader Axel Boasson of Mississippi State.
Senior Mikey Moyers (Stanardsville, Va.) and junior Bryce Chalkley (Richmond, Va.) are tied for 27th place at 148. Sophomore Trevor Cone (Concord, N.C.) is tied for 35th at 149 and freshman Maclain Huge (Lovettesville, Va.) is tied for 47th place at 152. Redshirt junior Jacob Everts (Ooltewah, Tenn.) is playing the event as an individual and is tied for 67th at 160.
Chattanooga holds the lead entering the final round with a total of five-under-par 571, one stroke ahead of Mississippi State and two strokes ahead of Iowa State. Mississippi is in fourth place at 584, two strokes ahead of the Hokies and Wolfpack. Host UNC Greensboro is in seventh place at 587, Purdue and Maryland are tied for eighth at 592, VCU is 10th at 593, Georgia State is 11th at 595, Boston College is 12th at 601 and Eastern Michigan is 13th at 605.
Tech entered the event ranked 42nd in the Golfstat.com rankings and 43rd in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. The UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate boasts a field that includes four top 50 teams according to Golfstat.com, including No. 28 Ole Miss, No. 47 Mississippi State and No. 50 Chattanooga, along with the Hokies. The final round will be played on Sunday morning, with the Hokies being grouped with Mississippi and NC State.
