MACON, Ga.-- Virginia Tech fired a second round two-under-par 286 and is in second place after the second round of the Sixth Annual Brickyard Collegiate Golf Championship at the par 72, 7,128-yard Brickyard at Riverside on Saturday.

The Hokies opened with a 291 on Friday and now has a two-day total of one-over-par 577. Tech’s 286 on Saturday was one of only two rounds under-par in the second round, both 286..

Sophomore Trevor Cone (Concord, N.C.) is in fifth place with a total of three-under-par 141. He trails leader Quinlan Prchal of Princeton by three strokes. Cone shot an even-par 72 on Saturday.

Junior Bryce Chalkley (Richmond, Va.) is tied for 15th place at even-par 144 and senior Mikey Moyers (Stanardsville, Va.) is tied for 25th place at 146. Freshman Maclain Huge (Lovettesville, Va.) is tied for 32nd place at 147 and redshirt junior Jacob Everts (Ooltewah, Tenn.) is in 76th place at 157.

The Hokies trail Georgia by nine strokes and lead third place Georgia Tech by two strokes. North Florida is fourth a 582, Princeton is fifth at 583 and Colorado State and Oklahoma are tied for sixth at 585. Host Mercer is eighth at 585, Kansas is ninth at 587, Augusta State is 10th at 589 and Chattanooga and Georgia State are tied for 11th at 590. The College of Charleston is 13th at 597, South Florida is 14th at 600 and Air Force is 15th at 611.

The Hokies will tee off beginning at 10:10 a.m. from the first tee in Sunday morning’s final round. Tech will play with Georgia and Georgia Tech.

Several of the top collegiate golfers are missing this event due to the World Amateur Team Championship in Turkey. Tech is playing without sophomore Scott Vincent (Harare, Zimbabwe), who is competing for his native Zimbabwe. Vincent leads the Hokies in scoring average this season and has placed in the top 5 of both tournaments so far this season. Chattanooga is without U.S. Amateur champion Stephen Fox, who is playing for the United States and North Florida is without Kevin Phelan, who is playing for Ireland.
