Greensboro, N.C. – Three Virginia Tech golfers have been named to the 2012 All-ACC Academic Team as announced Monday by Commissioner John Swofford.

Bryce Chalkley, a sophomore from Richmond, Virginia, along with Trevor Cone, a freshman from Concord, N.C., and Scott Vinecnt, a freshman from Harare, Zimbabwe, are three of 25 members on the team. Chalkley was a member of the academic team as a freshman in 2011. He is one on 12 repeat honorees from the 2011 All-ACC Academic team.

The Hokies completed the season earlier this month by finishing 24th at the 2012 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Ca. All three Virginia Tech honorees were members of the starting line-up in the 2011-12 season.

Ten of the 11 schools were represented on this year’s All-ACC Academic Team. Duke and Georgia Tech led the way with five players represented. Clemson, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest claimed three players each.

James White of Georgia Tech was named the ACC Rod Myers Men’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
