Hokies close out regular season at River Landing
Five ACC teams in the field this weekend

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech golf team will complete the 2011-12 regular season schedule this weekend at the River Landing Intercollegiate. The tournament will be played at the par-72, 6,901-yard River Landing Golf Club in Wallace, N.C., on Friday and Saturday. This will be the Hokies’ final event prior to the 2012 ACC Men’s Golf Championship, to be played April 20-22 at the Old North State Club in Baden Lake, N.C.

Freshman Trevor Cone (Concord, N.C.) will play in the first position for the Hokies at River Landing. Cone led the Hokies in Puerto Rico, tying for fourth place and tied for seventh at the Furman Intercollegiate last month. He led the team in scoring in the fall schedule. Cone had a top 20 finish at the Insperity/Augusta State Invitational earlier this week in Augusta, Ga.

Junior Mikey Moyers (Stanardsville, Va.) will play second for Tech. Moyers tied for fourth at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate earlier this spring. He was second in scoring in the fall, at 73.71 strokes per round. Moyers has played in every event since coming to Virginia Tech and had his best finish of the fall at the season-opening Northern Intercollegiate at Rich Harvest Farms, where he placed third overall.

Freshman Scott Vincent (Harare, Zimbabwe) is third for the Hokies. He was third in scoring in the fall and had two top 15 finishes in his first semester in Blacksburg and tied for 11th at the Furman Intercollegiate earlier in March. Sophomore Bryce Chalkley (Richmond, Va.) will play in the fourth position at River Landing and senior Blake Redmond (Sugar Land, Texas) will play fifth for the Hokies. Redmond tied for seventh place, along with Cone, at the Furman Intercollegiate and led the Hokies by tying for 14th place earlier this week at the Insperity/Augusta State Invitational.

The 12-team event will feature five ACC teams, Duke, UNC, NC State, Maryland and the Hokies. The field also includes host East Carolina, South Carolina and UNC Wilmington, along with Liberty, Winthrop, Jacksonville and VCU.

Tournament play gets underway with 36 holes on Friday, April 6. The event will conclude with a final round on Saturday, April 7. There will be no live stats available for this event, but results will be posted daily on hokiesports.com.
