Hokies complete fall slate at UNCG
Tech looks for strong fall season finish at Forest Oaks

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech golf team will complete its Fall 2011 schedule this weekend in the UNCG Bridgestone Golf Collegiate. The two-day tournament will be played Saturday and Sunday at the par-72, 7,212-yard Forest Oaks Country Club.

Junior Mikey Moyers (Stanardsville, Va.) leads the Hokies into the event. Moyers had a third-place finish at the season-opening Northern Intercollegiate and is second for the Hokies in scoring average this season.

A pair of freshmen, Trevor Cone (Concord, N.C.) and Scott Vincent (Harare, Zimbabwe) once again man the second and third spots for the Hokies. Cone leads the team in scoring and finished third at the Ridges in the last tournament. Vincent has a pair of top 20 finishes, including an 11th place finish at the VCU Shootout and is third on the team in scoring.

Sophomore Bryce Chalkley (Richmond, Va.) will play in the fourth position for Tech. Chalkley posted his best career finish earlier this fall at the Brickyard Collegiate Golf Championship, where he placed ninth. Senior Blake Redmond (Sugar Land, Texas) returns to the Hokie line-up this week. Redmond is looking to regain the form he showed in Spring 2011, when he lead the Hokies with a 10th place finish in the NCAA Regional, played at the Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech.

This is the Hokies’ third appearance in this event and Tech finished third last season. This year’s event features 15 teams, including Tech, NC State and 2010 Bridgestone champions, North Carolina, from the ACC. INC Greensboro is the host of this event.

The tournament will feature 36 holes of action on Saturday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start and the final round with be played on Sunday with tee times. The teams will play practice rounds on Friday.

Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.
