ERIN, Wisc. – Virginia Tech golfer Bryce Chalkley shot a second round four-over-par 76 and has a two-round total of five-over-par 147 at the 2011 U.S. Amateur Championship. Chalkley played his second round on the 7,760-yard, par 72 Erin Hills Golf Club course in Erin, Wisc.
After a lengthy weather delay during Tuesday’s second round, play was suspended at 7 p.m. CT, with a number of golfers still on the course. The second round of stroke play will resume Wednesday morning before match play begins. The field of 312 participated in 36 holes of stroke play on Monday and Tuesday. The top 64 players advance to six rounds of match play. The event will conclude with a 36-hole championship match.
Chalkley, a sophomore from Richmond, Va., is currently tied for 187th place and is unlikely to advance to match play. Blake Biddle of St. Charles, Ill., and UNLV, is the on-course leader at eight-under-par. Three golfers have completed their two rounds at seven-under-par.
