BLACKSBURG, VA. - Virginia Tech golfer Bryce Chalkley will tee off in the 2011 U.S. Amateur Championship at Erin Hills Golf Course in Erin, Wisconsin on Monday morning.

Chalkley, a sophomore from Richmond, Va., advanced from sectional qualifying in a playoff earlier this month at the Country Club of Petersburg, to gain a spot in the field. The U.S. Amateur will be played on the 7,760-yard, par 72 Erin Hills Golf Course, the longest U.S. Amateur course in the history of the event. There will also be play on the 6,622-yard, par 70 Blue Mound Golf and Country Club in nearby Wauwatosa, Wisconsin during stroke play.

The field of 312 will participate in 18 holes of stroke play on both August 22 and 23 before the top 64 players advance to six rounds of match play. The event will conclude with a 36-hole championship match.

Chalkley will be grouped with James Back of the University of San Francisco and Zahkai Brown of Colorado State in the first round. The group will tee off at 1:35.m. CDT on the first hole of the Blue Mound course.
